New Comprehensive Fiber Optic Solutions for Practical Testing in the Field

Download Press Release

Cable Tec Expo; Denver CO, (Wednesday October 28, 2009), Trilithic, a leader in Broadband Testing Equipment is pleased to present the new a new line of affordable solutions for test and measurement of fiber optic networks. The new fiber optic line has five instruments that offer you a comprehensive fiber optic solution, with high precision, versatile operation and fast measurement response. Trilithic’s Fiber Optic Solutions are very rugged, weatherproof, portable, and have a long battery life, so they’re ideal for practical testing in the field.

  • TFS-201 Optical Light Source
  • TFS-301 Optical Power Meter
  • TFS-FS1 Optical Leakage Detector
  • TFS-3200 Optical Spectrum Analyzer
  • TFS-3000 Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer

“We are very pleased to announce that Trilithic is entering the Fiber Optic communication instrument business.” Says Terry Bush, President at Trilithic. “This full complement of fiber test equipment and accessories debuting at the SCTE show in Denver in October represents another important step in Trilithic's continued commitment to provide our customers with leading solutions in communication instrumentation.”

The TFS-201 Optical Light Source and TFS-301 Optical Power Meter offer a combined solution for performing precise optical power and loss measurements. They feature extreme platform stability and meets Department of Defense specifications. The TFS-201 light source offers both 1310 and 1550 wavelengths, as well as multiple modulation modes, to give you flexibility in tracing fibers. The TFS-301 power meter uses a dual processor design to deliver exceptionally fast measurement response time.

The TFS-FS1 Fiber Optical Leakage Detector pinpoints energy leaks in fiber optic systems from splices, connectors, breakage or bending, even in bright light and can identify fibers at more than 300 kilometers. With a simple sweep over a fiber, it notifies you of a leak both visually and audibly, making leak detection in the field simple and fast. The TFS-FS1 is used for fiber identification, and it’s suitable for both long-distance and local testing, such as dead-zone areas or patch panel applications where exact pinpointing of a fault is critical.

The handheld TFS-3200 OSA can be used to analyze optical channels in CWDM systems. It offers a fast, twosecond scan with simple pass-fail results and an easy-to-read color display that shows your test information in table, spectrum or channel form. The system stores up to 1,000 tests, and you can use the Windows-compatible certification software for fast and easy reporting.

The TFS-3000 OTDR combines speed, a wide dynamic range, a lightweight, portable design, and a short dead zone, all at an affordable price. It’s simple enough for a novice to operate, and it’s suitable for everyday use on a wide variety of networks. Used with the TFS-301 power meter and TFS-201 light source The TFS-3000 can be used to perform insertion loss tests, and do fast, easy trace analysis and reporting with the supplied software. The TFS 3000 brings all of these capabilities together in a rugged package to make field testing more productive, efficient and cost-effective.

Trilithic’s full complement of Fiber Optic Testing Solutions will be available for demonstration at the Cable Tec Expo in Denver Co. October 28-29, 2009. For further information please visit us at www.trilithic.com
